** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ogosta Reservoir (Bulgarian: Язовир Огоста) is a large inland water body in northwestern Bulgaria whose surface waters follow seasonal patterns typical for continental climates. In winter the surface can fall to near freezing, commonly around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 5–15 °C (41–59 °F) as the water warms. Summer surface temperatures are the most comfortable for bathing, often ranging from about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in open areas and occasionally higher in shallow bays. During autumn the lake cools again, usually showing surface values around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). Deeper water remains colder year round, so reported temperatures typically refer to the upper layers.
Swimming at Ogosta is commonly practiced in the warm months and is generally allowed in many open, accessible bays because the reservoir is used for recreation, fishing and local leisure. However, access is not uniformly unrestricted: areas near dam structures, waterworks and boat channels are often regulated or prohibited for safety reasons, and there may be no lifeguard coverage. Water quality, weather conditions and local signage should be checked before entering; wind-driven waves, sudden depth changes and boat traffic can pose hazards even when temperatures are suitable for swimming.
