*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Golyam Beglik (Bulgarian: Голям Беглик) is a mountain reservoir in the Rhodope region whose surface temperatures reflect altitude, depth and seasonal weather. In winter the water commonly approaches freezing and can be 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), often forming ice at the margins. Spring warming typically yields surface values around 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as snowmelt and cool air persist. By early summer temperatures usually rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while peak summer conditions in July–August may push surface measurements into the 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) range on warm, calm days. Autumn sees a steady decline, with typical values of 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) before freezing resumes. Actual temperatures vary locally with depth, wind and inflow from streams.
Swimming at Golyam Beglik is possible and is practiced in summer, but it is not a formally managed beach destination and conditions can be variable. There are no widespread lifeguard services or developed facilities, and access can be limited by steep banks, fluctuating levels and boat or maintenance activity, so some areas may be restricted for safety or operational reasons. Because of the reservoir’s cool mountain water, even in summer swimmers should be cautious about cold shock and rapid heat loss. Visitors planning to swim are advised to use sheltered shallows, observe local signage and warnings, and avoid areas close to dam structures or boats.
