Pasarel Reservoir (Bulgarian: Язовир Пасарел) is a small mountain-fed impoundment on the Iskar River system near Pasarel village, close to Sofia. Water temperatures vary with the seasons and elevation: in winter the surface commonly sits around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F), in spring it typically warms to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F), by summer surface temperatures can reach about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on warm days, and in autumn it cools again to approximately 8–16 °C (46–61 °F). Because the reservoir is relatively shallow in places and receives cold inflows from mountain streams, even summer temperatures are cooler than lowland lakes or coastal waters.
Swimming opportunities are limited and should be approached with caution. The reservoir is part of a managed water system with dam infrastructure and occasional strong currents or sudden releases, and there can be restricted zones for safety and water-quality protection. While locals sometimes swim in calmer bays during warm months, official rules may prohibit bathing near the dam, intake structures, or where signage indicates restrictions.
