*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Loch Katrine, a picturesque loch in the Trossachs, is a vital part of Scotland's infrastructure as it serves as the primary water supply for Glasgow. Consequently, while wild swimming is generally permissible under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, it is requested that swimmers inform staff and stay clear of the routes used by the cruise boats like the historic Sir Walter Scott steamship, a practice designed to protect both public safety and water quality. The loch's water is consistently cold; typical seasonal surface temperatures range from winter lows of around 4∘C (39∘F), rising to approximately 13∘C to 15∘C (55∘F to 59∘F) in the summer months.
The deep and clear water of the loch makes for an invigorating swim, but the cold temperatures require caution, even in mid-summer. The surrounding area within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park offers many other attractions, including scenic cycling routes along the loch's northern shore, walking trails up mountains like Ben A'an and Ben Venue, and historical sites related to the legendary Rob Roy MacGregor, who was born nearby.
