*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The coastal lake known locally as Balta Mangalia sits near Mangalia in south‑eastern Romania and is characterized by shallow, sheltered waters that respond quickly to seasonal air temperatures. Typical water temperatures range from about 2–6 °C (36–43 °F) in the coldest months, rise to roughly 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) through spring, and reach their peak in summer around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) as the shallow basin warms. In autumn the surface cools again to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). These figures are approximate averages; actual temperatures depend on recent weather, wind, and the depth of the particular inlet or basin within the wetland complex.
Swimming at Balta Mangalia can be possible during the warmest weeks of summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, but it is not uniformly promoted like a beach on the open Black Sea. The lake’s shallow zones, reed beds and stagnant pockets can cause local temperature variation, reduced clarity and variable water quality. Parts of the area may also be managed as wetlands for wildlife, with restrictions on access. For safety and environmental reasons visitors should check local guidance, posted signs and recent water‑quality information before entering the water.
