** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Usmas, or Usmas ezers, is a medium-sized lake in Latvia whose surface water temperatures vary noticeably with the seasons. In spring (April–May) temperatures typically rise from near freezing to around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and the sun warms the shallows. During summer (June–August) the lake is at its warmest, commonly ranging from about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) and occasionally reaching 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in prolonged heat. In early autumn the water cools back through roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) before dropping toward freezing; under winter ice the liquid layer close to the bottom is usually near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming in Lake Usmas is generally possible and popular in the warmer months because the lake has public access points, recreational beaches and typically acceptable summer water quality. There is no universal prohibition on bathing, but local rules, private shorelines or temporary advisories can restrict swimming in specific spots. Swimmers should pay attention to posted signs and water-quality notices, as conditions can change with weather, algal blooms or maintenance, and lifeguards are not always present outside designated beaches.
