** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Laidze (Laidzes ezers) follows the typical seasonal cycle of small Latvian lakes. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures usually climb from near freezing to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the ice breaks up and air warms. Summer months (June–August) bring the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures commonly between 17 and 24 °C (63–75 °F) and occasional peaks approaching 25 °C (77 °F) during heat waves. In autumn (September–October) the water cools again, typically ranging from about 8 to 15 °C (46–59 °F). In winter the lake is often ice-covered; open-water pockets or late-season unfrozen spots hover near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while fully frozen conditions make ordinary swimming impractical.
Swimming at Lake Laidze is generally permitted and the lake is used for recreation by locals in warmer months because it is a public inland water body. However, access and safety depend on local conditions: some shores may be privately owned, parts of the shoreline could be protected for ecological reasons, and water quality can vary after heavy rains or algal blooms. Summer swimming is common when temperatures are comfortable, but visitors should heed posted signs, follow any municipal restrictions, check local water-quality updates, and avoid swimming on thin ice or in hazardous conditions.
