** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Būšnieku (Būšnieku ezers) typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to small Latvian lakes. In spring (April–May) water temperatures usually range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the lake thaws and warms. During the main bathing season in summer (June–August) surface temperatures commonly reach 17–24 °C (63–75 °F), with the warmest values occurring in shallow bays on sunny weeks. In autumn (September–October) the water cools back down to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as air temperatures fall. Through winter the lake surface generally freezes and liquid water beneath or in open patches stays very cold, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), depending on ice cover and local conditions.
Swimming in Būšnieku ezers is generally possible during the warmer months because the lake attains comfortable bathing temperatures in summer. Whether swimming is officially allowed depends on local management, designated bathing areas, and current water-quality and safety conditions; many lakes in Latvia permit open-water swimming but signage, beach facilities, or municipal rules can restrict access. Swimmers should check for algae advisories, water clarity, depth and entry points, and observe life‑saving provisions. Ice swimming or winter bathing is practiced by some, but it requires proper safety measures and awareness of ice thickness.
