** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Engure is a relatively shallow coastal lake in western Latvia that warms and cools more quickly than deeper bodies of water. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from early spring values around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) through summer highs commonly between 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), with occasional peaks approaching 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in warm years. In autumn the water usually drops to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before winter sets in, when the surface approaches freezing and under-ice temperatures are often close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) depending on ice thickness and weather.
Swimming at Lake Engure is generally possible and popular in summer because the shallow water warms quickly and creates pleasant bathing conditions in many bays and along accessible shores. However, parts of the lake lie within a nature park and bird-protection zones where access and activities may be restricted to protect habitats, and dense reeds or variable water quality can affect particular spots. Bathers should choose non-protected, clearly accessible entry points and follow local signs and guidance; winter ice swimming is occasionally practiced but requires caution and local knowledge about ice safety and permitted areas.
