*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kyyvesi is a large lake in the South Savo region, known for its extensive network of islands and deeply indented shoreline. Swimming is freely allowed along its accessible shores and at any local bathing spots, a right guaranteed by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle ensures the public's widespread access to natural water bodies for recreational use. As a large lake, its water quality is generally good, supporting excellent swimming conditions. Local authorities are responsible for monitoring the safety and hygiene of any official public beaches, typically throughout the summer season.
The lake experiences the distinct seasonal temperature cycle typical of large Finnish inland waters. During the long winter, from roughly December to April, Kyyvesi is consistently covered by a thick layer of ice, with the water temperature beneath remaining stable and cold, generally between 0∘C and 4∘C. The most comfortable period for swimming in the surface layer is short, peaking in July. During this mid-summer month, surface temperatures in the shallower bays and near the shores typically range from 18∘C to 21∘C. Due to its size and potential depth, the main body of the lake often remains cooler than smaller regional lakes. Outside of the summer peak, the water temperature is too low for casual swimming.
