*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Jyväsjärvi lies in the heart of Jyväskylä, Central Finland, connected to the larger Lake Päijänne system. It is a relatively shallow urban lake, which means its water warms up faster than many deeper Finnish lakes. In spring, after the ice melts, the surface temperature stays cool at around 6–9 °C (43–48 °F). During early summer, it rises to 15–18 °C (59–64 °F), and in July the water usually reaches 20–23 °C (68–73 °F). On particularly warm days, temperatures may briefly climb to 24–25 °C (75–77 °F). By autumn, the lake cools below 10 °C (50 °F) and typically freezes in late November.
Swimming in Jyväsjärvi is officially allowed, and it is one of Jyväskylä’s most popular outdoor recreation spots. The lake has several maintained beaches, including the well-known Tuomiojärvi and Satama areas, where water quality is regularly monitored. The combination of warm summer water, clean conditions, and beautiful views of the city and surrounding nature makes it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and open-water training. In winter, locals even enjoy ice swimming near designated saunas.
