*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Vahvajärvi is a medium-sized lake in the South Savo region of Finland, situated in a typical Finnish Lakeland setting with numerous bays and islands. Swimming is fully allowed along its shores and at any public access points, a right upheld by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This fundamental principle ensures the public's freedom to use natural water bodies for recreational purposes. The lake generally offers good water quality for bathing, and its shores often feature small, natural beaches popular with locals and summer residents. Local authorities are responsible for monitoring the safety and hygienic status of designated public bathing sites, particularly during the summer.
The lake experiences the distinct seasonal temperature cycle typical of inland Finnish lakes. During the cold season, from approximately December to April, Vahvajärvi is dependably covered by a layer of ice. The water temperature below the ice remains consistently near freezing, generally ranging between 0∘C and 4∘C. The ideal time for comfortable swimming in the surface layer is short, peaking in July. During this mid-summer month, surface temperatures in sun-warmed, shallower bays typically reach an approximate range of 18∘C to 21∘C. Outside of this brief warm summer window, the water is generally too cold for casual bathers, though the lake is utilized for traditional winter swimming.
