Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Enonvesi is a sizable lake located in the heart of the Finnish Lake District in South Savo, forming part of the extensive Greater Saimaa water system. Swimming is generally permitted along its numerous shores and at local public beaches, a fundamental right secured by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle grants the public the freedom to access and use natural waters for recreation. The lake is characterized by its relatively high water quality, typical of the Saimaa basin, making it excellent for swimming during the open water season. Local municipalities oversee the safety and hygiene of designated bathing areas.
The water temperature in Enonvesi undergoes the distinct annual cycle characteristic of large, deep inland lakes. During the cold season, from approximately December to April, the lake is dependably frozen, with the water temperature below the ice remaining consistently cold, typically between 0∘C and 4∘C. The most comfortable period for swimming is concentrated in July. During this peak summer month, surface temperatures in sun-warmed bays and near shores typically range from 18∘C to 21∘C. Due to its size and potential depth, the main body of the lake often remains cooler than smaller, shallower regional lakes. Outside of the summer peak, the lake caters primarily to dedicated cold-water swimming enthusiasts.
