Koncha Lake in Koncha-Zaspa is part of the complex hydro-system of this elite district of Kyiv. Being a large, yet relatively enclosed water body (an old riverbed of the Dnipro), its water warms up to comfortable swimming temperatures during the summer. In the peak swimming season, which falls in July and August, the water temperature here typically reaches an optimal range of +22 to +25∘C, allowing for long swims. The swimming season, as with most large water bodies in Kyiv, begins after the water consistently warms above +18∘C.
Despite the comfortable temperature, opportunities for free swimming in Koncha Lake are severely limited. The Koncha-Zaspa area is known for its heavily developed shoreline, where the lake and adjacent Dnipro territories are largely occupied by private cottage communities and elite residences. This has resulted in most free access points to the water being blocked, leaving only a minimal number of public-access beaches, which may also be undeveloped.
Nevertheless, some sanatoriums and wellness complexes (such as the Koncha-Zaspa Sanatorium) are located on or near the shores of Koncha Lake and may have their own controlled beaches and therapeutic swimming zones. However, for the average visitor without access to private territories or sanatorium services, finding a spot for free and safe swimming in Koncha Lake poses significant challenges.
