** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
A lake of the Bashliiski Lakes (Валявишки езера) sits high in the Pirin range, so water temperatures remain low year-round because the basins are fed mainly by snowmelt and have limited solar warming. In winter the surface is commonly frozen and temperatures are at or below 0 °C (32 °F). In spring and early summer (May–June) the water typically ranges from about 1–6 °C (34–43 °F) as snowmelt continues. The warmest period is usually in July and August, when surface temperatures may reach roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) on sunny days; by early autumn (September–October) temperatures fall again toward about 3–8 °C (37–46 °F).
Swimming is physically possible but generally uncommon and not recommended for most visitors because these cold temperatures pose a real risk of cold shock and hypothermia even after brief immersion. In addition, the lakes lie within sensitive mountain ecosystems and parts of Pirin are protected; bathing or prolonged disturbance may be discouraged or restricted by local regulations to preserve water quality and wildlife. Some hikers do take very short dips in summer, but anyone considering entering the water should be prepared for rapid cooling, be aware of safety risks, and respect any park rules in effect.
