*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kuolimo is a large, deep and clear-water lake situated in the South Karelia region, known for its scenic surroundings and high-quality water. Swimming is generally allowed along its shores and at various accessible points, a freedom guaranteed by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle ensures the public's access to natural waters for recreational purposes. Kuolimo's clear, oligotrophic waters make it excellent for swimming, and public bathing sites are available where water quality is regularly monitored by municipal health services during the summer.
The water temperature in Kuolimo exhibits the typical pronounced seasonal changes of the Finnish lake region. During the extensive winter, typically from December to April, the lake is frozen, and the water temperature below the thick ice layer remains cold, consistently between 0∘C and 4∘C. The main season for comfortable surface swimming is brief, concentrated in July and early August. During this peak summer period, surface temperatures in sun-warmed, shallower bays typically reach an approximate range of 18∘C to 21∘C. Due to its depth, the main basin often remains cooler than shallower regional lakes. Outside of this warm peak, the water is generally too cold for casual bathers.
