*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kukës (in Albanian - Kukësi) in Kukës County sits beside an artificial lake formed by the Drin River and associated reservoirs. Water temperatures there reflect its mountain-fed character and seasonal variation: in late spring and early summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 15–20 °C (59–68 °F), peak summer months tend to warm to roughly 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) in sheltered bays, while autumn sees a drop to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). In winter the lake often cools to near 3–8 °C (37–46 °F) at the surface, with deeper water remaining colder. Local factors such as weather, wind, water depth and release schedules from dams produce noticeable day-to-day and site-to-site variation.
Swimming in the Kukës lake area is frequently practiced during the warm months and is generally allowed in many accessible spots, though formal lifeguarded beaches are limited. Caution is recommended because the reservoir can have steep banks, sudden depth changes, floating or submerged debris, boat traffic and colder currents near dam structures; water level fluctuations for hydropower can also affect safe entry and exit. Visitors should choose sheltered, popular areas in summer, check local guidance, and be mindful of safety and temperature-related risks.
