Bijelo Polje is a town in northern Montenegro, situated along the Lim River, which flows through a mountainous landscape before continuing toward Serbia. The Lim here is clear, fast-flowing, and relatively cold throughout most of the year due to its origin in the highlands of Prokletije. In spring, the water temperature usually ranges from 8 to 13 °C, while in summer it rises to 17–22 °C, occasionally reaching 23 °C in calmer stretches. During autumn, it cools to around 12–16 °C, and in winter it drops below 5 °C, as the river is fed by snowmelt and mountain springs. Its steady flow and clean water make it an important natural feature of the Bijelo Polje area.
Swimming in the Lim River near Bijelo Polje is possible in summer, but the water remains cold even during the warmest months. Locals sometimes swim in shallower or slower parts of the river to cool off, but long swimming sessions are rare due to the low temperature and strong currents. The Lim is more frequently used for fishing, rafting, and kayaking.
