** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Derbyshire
Torside Reservoir, high in the Longdendale valley of Derbyshire, stays relatively cool year‑round. Surface temperatures in summer typically reach about 12–16 °C (54–61 °F) on the warmest days, while spring and autumn usually see 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). In winter the water can sit close to freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). These figures refer to surface layers; deeper water is often colder and thermal stratification means sudden changes in temperature beneath the surface. Weather, wind and recent rainfall also influence how warm the water feels.
There is no formal, lifeguarded bathing provision at Torside, and swimming is generally discouraged because it is a working upland reservoir with steep banks, cold, deep water and potential underwater hazards; water quality and safety regulations mean activities may be restricted. Despite that, wild swimmers sometimes enter at their own risk. The area is popular for walking and cycling on the Longdendale Trail, and nearby attractions include Hollingworth Lake, Etherow Country Park and the fringes of the Peak District, offering scenery and outdoor routes if you prefer dry‑land recreation.
