*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Greater Manchester
Higher Swineshaw Reservoir, set in the upland fringes of Greater Manchester, tends to have cool water year-round because of its elevation and open exposure. Typical seasonal surface temperatures run roughly 2–6 °C (36–43 °F) in winter, 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) through spring and autumn, and 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) on warmer summer days. Even in summer the deeper water and shaded areas remain noticeably chilly, and temperatures can vary quickly with weather and wind.
Swimming is generally not officially permitted at Higher Swineshaw because the reservoir forms part of the local water supply and because of safety hazards such as cold shock, steep banks and no lifeguards. Despite this, some experienced wild swimmers do visit informally, but that is at personal risk and typically discouraged by authorities. The area is nevertheless popular for other outdoor activities: nearby walking routes across the Pennine moorland, adjoining reservoirs in the Brushes Valley, and the town of Stalybridge offer accessible scenic routes, birdwatching and countryside views for visitors.
