In winter the surface is often around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F), rising through spring to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). Summer surface temperatures commonly reach 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on warmer days, while autumn cools back to about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F).
