** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Skasen is a freshwater lake in Innlandet County, Norway, known locally as Skasen. Water temperatures vary a lot through the year because of the continental climate and the lake’s depth and exposure. In winter the liquid water near and under the ice is close to freezing, about 0 °C (32 °F) up to roughly 4 °C (39 °F). Spring warming brings surface temperatures from roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as ice breaks up. In mid to late summer the most comfortable swimming conditions are typically found, with surface temperatures commonly ranging from about 12–22 °C (54–72 °F) depending on sunny weather, wind and sheltered bays. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) before freezing.
Swimming in Skasen is generally allowed for recreational purposes and is a normal summertime activity, but conditions determine whether it is comfortable or safe. The lake often freezes in winter, so open-water swimming then is only for experienced ice-swimmers with proper precautions; early and late season swims may require a wetsuit. There are usually no lifeguards, variable bottoms and sudden depth changes, and local water quality or private shoreline access can vary, so swimmers should check local guidance, use flotation if uncertain, and take elementary safety measures.
