*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Øgderen is a freshwater lake in Akershus County, Norway, with seasonal surface temperatures that vary considerably through the year. In spring (April–May) the water typically warms from around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures often ranging from 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) and occasional warm spells reaching about 23 °C (73 °F). In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall again, commonly sitting between 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). During winter months the lake can be at or near freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and parts of the surface may freeze over depending on the season’s severity.
Swimming in Øgderen is generally allowed; Norway’s public access traditions and the absence of widespread prohibitions mean people commonly use lakes for bathing and recreation. Practical opportunities are best in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, but swimmers should watch for local restrictions, water quality notices, private shoreline areas, and natural hazards. Cold water and the potential for rapid temperature change pose risks outside the warmest months, and ice swimming requires proper precautions and experience. As with any natural body of water, visitors are advised to exercise judgment, check local signage, and take standard safety measures.
