*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gjesåssjøen, a lake in Innlandet county, typically follows the temperature patterns of inland Norwegian lakes. In summer the surface water commonly warms to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) at sheltered, shallow bays on the warmest days of July and August, while open or deeper parts stay a few degrees cooler. Late spring and early summer temperatures are usually in the range of about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as the lake stratifies and long daylight increases warmth. In autumn the surface cools back toward roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) before ice forms; during winter the lake is often at or below freezing at the surface and may be ice-covered, with temperatures close to 0 °C (32 °F).
Swimming in Gjesåssjøen is generally possible and commonly practiced in the warmer months where access from the shoreline is permitted. There are no universal bans on recreational bathing in natural lakes, but conditions vary by location and season: summer temperatures can be comfortable for most swimmers, whereas spring and autumn waters are cold and pose hypothermia risk for prolonged exposure. In winter, swimming is not feasible except as ice bathing for experienced, well-prepared individuals. As with any natural bathing spot, local signage, water quality advisories and personal safety precautions should be observed.
