The lakes on the island of Mljet, particularly Veliko and Malo jezero, are among the most remarkable natural attractions of southern Croatia. Due to their enclosed position and connection to the sea through narrow channels, the water in these lakes warms up faster than the open Adriatic. In summer, the temperature often reaches 25–28 °C, sometimes even warmer than the sea itself, which makes them especially inviting for swimming.
