Nuga Lake, located in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina near Ljubuški, is a small karst lake surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and rocky terrain. Due to its location in Herzegovina’s warm climate, the lake’s water temperature varies moderately through the seasons. In winter, it averages around 6–9°C, rising to 12–16°C in spring. During summer, particularly in July and August, the temperature reaches 22–27°C, making it comfortably warm for swimming. In autumn, the water gradually cools again to about 14–18°C.
Swimming in Nuga Lake is allowed and popular among locals during the summer months. The water is clean, calm, and clear, providing pleasant conditions for bathing and relaxation. There are no large organized beaches, but natural access points around the lake make it easy for visitors to enter the water.
