*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Deransko Lake (Deransko jezero) is the largest and most prominent of the lakes within the Hutovo Blato nature park in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a complex of wetlands near the lower Neretva River. Due to its location in a karst area and its connection to underground and surface waterflows, its temperature regime is somewhat moderate compared to high-altitude lakes. In the colder months, the lake maintains relatively mild temperatures for the region, typically ranging from 10∘C to 12∘C. During the warm summer season, the shallow nature of the lake allows for significant heating, with temperatures usually peaking around 20∘C to 22∘C in July and August.
Swimming in Deransko Lake, and generally throughout Hutovo Blato, is typically not promoted or recommended. The area is primarily a protected nature reserve, significant for its ornithological value and unique ecosystem. While the summer water temperature would technically be suitable for bathing, the lake is characterized by dense aquatic vegetation, reedy banks, and a muddy bottom, which are not conducive to recreational swimming. Furthermore, the focus on environmental protection and wildlife conservation means that public access for activities like swimming is restricted or strongly discouraged to preserve the delicate wetland habitat.
