Water Temperature Trends
Dubrovnik-Neretva County, located in the southern part of Croatia along the Adriatic Sea, experiences a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. During the summer months of June through August, the sea temperature is quite pleasant, ranging from 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F). These warm waters make the region a popular destination for swimming, snorkeling, and other water-based activities, with many tourists flocking to the stunning beaches of Dubrovnik, Cavtat, and the nearby islands.
In the fall, sea temperatures begin to decrease gradually, with September still enjoying relatively warm waters around 20°C to 22°C (68°F to 72°F). By November, the temperature drops further to around 16°C to 18°C (61°F to 64°F), making swimming less comfortable, but still possible for those who are accustomed to cooler waters. The winter months from December to February see water temperatures of around 12°C to 14°C (54°F to 57°F), which are too cold for casual swimming but suitable for other forms of coastal exploration. Despite the cooler sea temperatures in the off-season, the region's scenic beauty, historic sites, and mild climate make it a year-round destination.
