Location & Local Information
Lake Jablanica, located in the Neretva River valley between Konjic and Jablanica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is one of the country’s most scenic artificial lakes. Surrounded by steep mountains and green forests, it stretches for more than 30 kilometers. The water temperature in the lake changes notably with the seasons. In winter, it remains cold at around 4–7°C, while in spring it gradually warms to 12–15°C. During summer, especially in July and August, the temperature reaches 22–26°C in shallow bays, making it comfortable for swimming. In autumn, it cools again to about 14–18°C.
Swimming in Lake Jablanica is allowed and very popular, particularly during summer. The water is clean, calm, and ideal for bathing, boating, and other water sports. Many local residents and tourists visit the lake’s shores for recreation, and several natural and organized beaches exist along its length. The combination of pleasant water temperature, scenic surroundings, and easy access from nearby towns makes Jablanica Lake one of the most attractive summer destinations in Herzegovina.
