Summer surface temperatures often reach about 14–20°C (57–68°F) on warm spells, while spring and autumn usually see 6–12°C (43–54°F). In winter the water commonly sits between roughly 4–7°C (39–45°F), and deeper water remains colder. Temperatures can vary with recent rainfall, flow and wind, so these figures are approximate; evenings and early mornings are usually a few degrees cooler than daytime readings.
There is no formal lifeguarded or designated swimming area at Lindley Wood, so any wild swimming is effectively at people’s own risk and subject to water company rules and local signage.
