*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#West Yorkshire
Beaver Dyke Reservoirs sit in the rolling moorland of West Yorkshire and tend to be cool throughout the year. In summer surface water temperatures commonly reach about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on warmer days, while spring and autumn usually see 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In winter the reservoirs can fall to around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), and deep water remains colder than the surface. Conditions vary with weather, depth and inflow, so local temperatures can change quickly after rain or cold spells.
Formal swimming is generally not permitted at many managed reservoirs for safety and water-quality reasons, and Beaver Dyke is no exception: steep banks, sudden depth changes, cold temperatures and the absence of lifeguards make it unsuitable for organised bathing. Some experienced wild swimmers visit unofficially, but this is discouraged by landowners and authorities. Visitors can still enjoy marked walks, cycling routes, moorland views and nearby towns such as Halifax and Hebden Bridge, as well as other local reservoirs and nature reserves for wildlife watching.
