** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#West Yorkshire
Eccup Reservoir, on the edge of Leeds in West Yorkshire, is a shallow, man-made waterbody whose surface temperatures change with the seasons. In winter the water typically sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), spring brings a rise to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), summer peak temperatures commonly reach 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on sunny days, and autumn sees cooling back toward 8–12 °C (46–54 °F). These figures refer to general surface conditions; deeper or shaded areas remain colder and conditions vary year to year with weather and wind.
Swimming at Eccup is generally not permitted because the reservoir forms part of the public water supply and is managed with water quality and public safety in mind; cold water shock, hidden hazards and management rules mean casual wild swimming is discouraged or restricted unless specifically authorised. The site is nevertheless popular for walking, birdwatching and photography, and is close to Golden Acre Park and a network of local rural trails and country estates, offering pleasant options for visitors who prefer to stay onshore.
