** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#North Yorkshire
Roundhill Reservoir in North Yorkshire is an upland impoundment whose water remains cool year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range from around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in winter, 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) in spring, 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in summer during warm spells, and 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in autumn. These figures are approximate and vary with weather and depth; the reservoir’s depth and exposure mean surface temperatures can change quickly and colder layers persist below the surface. Because of low water temperatures, sudden depth changes and operational considerations for an active drinking-water/reservoir site, there is no formal provision for casual swimming and it is generally discouraged or prohibited for safety and water quality reasons.
Visitors typically enjoy the area for walking, birdwatching and cycling rather than bathing. The reservoir sits within scenic moorland and is close to other upland reservoirs and features of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with popular routes, remote gritstone scenery and nearby villages such as Pateley Bridge providing visitor facilities and further opportunities for exploration.
