** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Vistonida (Λίμνη Βιστωνίδα) is a shallow coastal lagoon in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace whose water temperatures vary seasonally because of its connection to the sea and freshwater inflows. Typical winter values are around 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), spring temperatures rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), summer sees the warmest waters near 22–28 °C (72–82 °F) with peak warmth in July–August, and autumn cools to about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). Because the lake is relatively shallow, temperatures can change quickly with weather, and sheltered areas may warm more than open channels.
Swimming is possible in parts of the lagoon, and local spots along the shore such as near Porto Lagos are used for bathing during the warmer months, mainly June through September, when temperatures are most comfortable. However, Vistonida is an important wetland and Natura 2000 site, so some zones are protected and bathing or access may be restricted to avoid disturbing birdlife and fragile habitats. Water quality and bottom conditions (reed beds, mud) vary across the lake, so swimmers should choose designated or commonly used areas and follow any local regulations or advisories for safety and conservation reasons.
