** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gala Lake (Gala Gölü) in the Edirne region is a shallow, coastal lagoon whose water temperature varies strongly with the seasons because of its low depth and exposure. In winter months (December–February) surface temperatures commonly fall to about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). During spring (March–May) waters warm to roughly 10–17 °C (50–63 °F) as air temperatures rise. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface readings in the 20–27 °C range (68–81 °F), though shallow areas can heat even more on hot, calm days. In autumn (September–November) temperatures decline again to around 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). Local conditions such as wind, rainfall, and inflows can shift these values, and deeper or shaded sections may remain cooler.
As a nature-rich and ecologically sensitive site, swimming at Gala Lake is generally discouraged or restricted in many areas. Restrictions exist primarily to protect bird habitats, reed beds and water quality, and to avoid disturbance in this important wetland ecosystem; the shallow, silty bottom and dense vegetation also reduce safety and comfort for swimmers. Where access for recreation is allowed, it tends to be limited to specific, signposted spots and the warmest summer months. Visitors should follow local signage and regulations to balance recreation with conservation.
