*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Durbe (Latvian: Durbes ezers) experiences typical temperate Baltic freshwater temperatures that vary markedly with the seasons. In spring the surface water commonly ranges from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and the lake begins to warm. During the main swimming season in summer, surface temperatures more often sit between roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), and on warm late-summer days can approach 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in shallower bays. Autumn cooling brings temperatures down again to around 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). In winter the lake usually drops toward freezing, with surface temperatures near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and ice cover common in colder months.
Swimming in Lake Durbe is generally possible where there is shore access or small designated bathing areas, because it is a publicly accessible lake; however, local rules, seasonal conditions and water-quality considerations determine whether it is advisable. Authorities may close or advise against bathing during cyanobacterial blooms, heavy rain events that affect runoff, or when ice makes access dangerous. Always check local signage and recent water-quality notices before entering, and be mindful of cooler temperatures outside midsummer that can increase risk of cold-water shock and reduce swimming comfort and safety.
