*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Babītes, a shallow coastal lake near Riga, shows pronounced seasonal variation in water temperature. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures typically range from about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as the water slowly warms after ice melt. By early to mid-summer (June–August) the lake commonly reaches 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) in sheltered, shallower bays, with the warmest readings on calm, sunny days. Temperatures fall through autumn, often averaging 3–12 °C (37–54 °F) from October into November, and in winter the lake is close to freezing or under ice, with near-surface values around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) beneath any ice cover.
Swimming in Lake Babītes is generally possible and popular in summer, particularly at informal beaches and recreational spots, because the warmer shallow areas are comfortable for bathing. However, swimming is subject to local conditions and advisories: water quality can vary and occasional cyanobacterial blooms or elevated bacterial counts may make bathing temporarily inadvisable, and signage or municipal monitoring will indicate when swimming should be avoided. There are few formal lifeguarded beaches year-round, so swimmers should be cautious about depth changes, submerged vegetation, and sudden weather shifts.
