*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Liepāja (Liepājas ezers) is a shallow, partly brackish coastal lake near the city of Liepāja whose water temperature varies noticeably with the seasons. In summer months (June–August) surface temperatures commonly reach about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), and on warm spells can climb toward 25–26 °C (77–79 °F). During spring (March–May) the lake typically warms from near freezing to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. In autumn (September–November) temperatures fall back to the range of roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In winter the open water is close to freezing, generally around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) beneath any ice cover.
Swimming in Lake Liepāja is possible and commonly practiced in suitable locations, because the shallow water heats up in summer and provides pleasant conditions. However, not all spots are appropriate: water quality can vary, algal blooms sometimes occur, and areas near ports or restricted zones are off-limits. Local authorities designate safe bathing places and issue advisories when necessary, so swimmers should follow posted signs and check current water-quality information. Ice swimming happens in winter at organized, cleared sites, but it requires caution and safety measures due to cold-water risks.
