*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Rikavac, known as Rikavačko Jezero, is a small mountain lake located in southeastern Montenegro, near the border with Albania and the Prokletije mountain range. It lies at an altitude of about 1,300 meters and is surrounded by dense forests, alpine meadows, and rocky peaks. Because of its high elevation and the inflow of cold mountain springs, the lake maintains low water temperatures for most of the year. In spring, the temperature typically ranges between 5 and 9 °C, while in summer it reaches 15–19 °C during the warmest days. In autumn, it cools to around 10–13 °C, and in winter it often drops below 4 °C, with the surface sometimes partially frozen.
Swimming in Lake Rikavac is allowed, but due to the consistently cold water, it is only suitable for brief dips during July and August. Even then, the refreshing chill of the water appeals mostly to adventurers and those used to mountain conditions. The lake’s clean water and tranquil environment make it ideal for nature lovers seeking peace rather than recreation. Surrounded by untouched wilderness, Lake Rikavac offers a serene setting for hiking, camping, and enjoying the crisp air of Montenegro’s highlands.
