*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Vau i Dejës reservoir on the Drin River in Shkodër County typically shows clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In summer months surface temperatures commonly reach about 22–26 °C (72–79 °F), making the water comfortable for bathing. Late spring and early autumn are cooler, with typical ranges around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), which many find brisk but tolerable for short swims. Winter temperatures often fall to roughly 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) near the surface; such cold conditions increase the risk of hypothermia and make swimming inadvisable except for brief, well-prepared exposure.
Swimming is generally possible at the reservoir, and locals and visitors do bathe in accessible bays and along gentle shorelines during warmer months. However, rules and practical restrictions apply: areas close to the dam and hydropower infrastructure are usually prohibited for safety reasons, and fluctuating water levels, submerged hazards, boat traffic and occasional water-quality issues can make some spots unsafe. For these reasons swimming is recommended only in clearly suitable, calmer areas during the warm season and with awareness of posted warnings and local guidance.
