** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Petron in Western Macedonia, Greece (Λίμνη Πετρών) is a freshwater body set in a continental, often mountainous environment, so its surface temperatures change markedly through the year. In winter months the water can be very cold, typically around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), and in spring it warms gradually to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F). During the warmest part of summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), while autumn sees a steady decline back toward 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). Local conditions such as recent weather, wind, depth and inflow from streams can shift these ranges by a few degrees, and deeper or shaded areas remain colder than shallow bays.
Swimming at Lake Petron is generally possible and is practiced seasonally, but whether it is advisable depends on temperature, water quality and safety provisions. Recreational bathing is most comfortable in summer when temperatures approach the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F); in spring and autumn the cooler water is bracing and may pose hypothermia risks for prolonged exposure, and winter swimming is usually unsafe because of near-freezing temperatures or ice. Visitors should check for local signage or municipal guidance about water quality, access points and the absence of lifeguards before entering the water.
