** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Vegoritida (Greek: Λίμνη Βεγορίτιδα) in Central Macedonia is a freshwater basin whose surface temperatures vary markedly through the year. In winter months (December–February) surface water commonly ranges from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). Spring (March–May) sees a steady rise, roughly 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) as the lake warms. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, typically around 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), with occasional spells pushing toward 28 °C (82 °F) in heatwaves. During autumn (September–November) temperatures commonly fall back into the 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) band. These figures are approximate and depend on local weather, depth, wind, and inflow from rivers and streams.
Swimming in Lake Vegoritida is generally possible and frequently practiced by locals during the warm season because the lake is publicly accessible. However, it is not uniformly managed as a formal bathing resort: supervised beaches, lifeguards and routine water-quality monitoring are limited in many areas, and agricultural runoff or seasonal algal growth can affect conditions. For that reason swimming is most advisable in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, while spring and autumn tend to be chilly and winter usually too cold for most swimmers. Visitors should observe local signage, check recent water-quality information when available, and take basic safety precautions.
