** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Aidu (Estonian: Kõpu tiik) is a small freshwater body where water temperatures follow the typical Baltic inland pattern. In early spring the surface is cold, often between 0 and 6 °C (32–43 °F) as ice melts; by late spring temperatures commonly rise to about 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). During summer months the water usually warms to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), and on warm, calm days can reach the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F). In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 5–14 °C (41–57 °F) before freezing in winter, when surface temperatures are at or below 0 °C (32 °F) and the lake may be ice-covered for several weeks to months depending on the year.
Swimming at Lake Aidu is commonly possible and practiced in the warmer season because it is an accessible freshwater pond rather than a restricted industrial reservoir. Whether swimming is officially allowed can depend on local signage, seasonal water quality monitoring and ownership or protected-area rules, so visitors should check notices and use judgment. Typical advice applies: avoid bathing after heavy rain, be mindful of sudden depth changes and underwater vegetation, and consider cooler temperatures early or late in the season which can pose a risk of hypothermia even when air temperatures feel pleasant.
