** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Saadjärv (Estonian: Saadjärv) is a typical Estonian freshwater lake whose surface temperatures vary with the seasons. In spring, as ice melts and the water warms, surface temperatures commonly range from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F), rising steadily into summer when typical readings are around 17–22 °C (63–72 °F), with occasional warm spells pushing the surface to 24–26 °C (75–79 °F). In early autumn the water cools to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and by late autumn and winter the lake is usually near freezing; once ice forms the water beneath the ice remains close to 0–1 °C (32–34 °F).
Swimming in Saadjärv is generally possible and commonly practiced in the warmer months where access is available, because the lake’s shores and public beaches permit recreational use and waters reach comfortable summer temperatures for most swimmers. There are no universal prohibitions on bathing, though local regulations, water-quality advisories, and the presence or absence of lifeguards should be checked before entering. Winter ice-swimming occurs in Estonia and can be done on frozen Saadjärv with proper equipment and safety measures, but cold-water and ice-related risks make it suitable only for experienced participants or supervised groups.
