*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Võrtsjärv is a large, shallow lake in southern Estonia, so its water temperature varies strongly with the seasons. In winter the surface is usually close to 0 °C (32 °F) and the lake commonly freezes over. Spring brings a steady rise from roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and the shallow waters warm. In summer the lake can become quite pleasant for bathing, with typical surface temperatures around 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) and occasional warm spells pushing parts of the lake to 26–28 °C (79–82 °F). By autumn the temperature drops again, generally ranging from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) depending on how late into the season warm weather persists.
Swimming in Võrtsjärv is possible and commonly practiced in warmer months, and there are designated bathing spots and beaches. Because the lake is shallow and nutrient rich it is prone to algal blooms, especially cyanobacteria, and water quality can vary; such blooms can make swimming inadvisable for health reasons. Visibility and the soft, silty bottom also differ from clearer lakes. Local authorities post advisories when water quality or weather conditions create risks, so checking current notices and avoiding swimming during visible algal scums or immediately after heavy rain is recommended.
