Koshara Lake in Kyiv Oblast is a body of water often used for outdoor recreation and fishing, but its swimming opportunities are limited and sometimes ambiguous. Since it is a lake and not a flowing river, its water warms up very well during the summer. In the peak heat, typically in July and August, the water temperature in Koshara can easily reach a comfortable +22 to +24∘C, making it entirely suitable for swimming in terms of temperature. The swimming season, as in most regions of Kyiv Oblast, begins when the water warms above +18∘C.
However, despite the favorable temperature, Koshara is not always considered an ideal swimming spot. Some local reservoirs with similar names may have a silty bottom or a specific water composition, for example, due to peat deposits, which gives the water a darker tint. In some areas where the lake is leased for fishing, swimming may be explicitly prohibited by the administration to protect fish resources. Thus, while climatic conditions favor water warming, it is advisable to check the current status of the reservoir and the availability of officially permitted beach areas before visiting.
