** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Koprinka Reservoir, near Kazanlak in central Bulgaria, experiences marked seasonal variation in surface water temperature typical of inland reservoirs. In winter the water is cold, often close to freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) at the surface; spring sees gradual warming to about 6–15 °C (43–59 °F). During the warmest months surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and in particularly hot summers can locally approach 28 °C (82 °F). In autumn the reservoir cools again to around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). These figures refer mainly to the upper layers; deeper water remains noticeably cooler year-round and stratification can occur in summer.
Swimming in Koprinka is feasible in warm months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but it is not managed like an official public beach. There are no widespread permanent lifeguard services, and authorities may restrict access near dam structures, water-intake installations or during operational releases for safety reasons. Water quality can vary seasonally—agricultural runoff, algal growth in calm heat and sudden changes in turbidity are possible—so local signage, municipal guidance and seasonal water-quality reports should be consulted before bathing. Swimmers should also be cautious about sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles and passing boats.
