*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Fyresvatnet (Norwegian: Fyresvatnet) in Telemark County is a large, relatively deep freshwater lake whose surface temperatures vary noticeably through the year. In spring (April–May) surface water typically warms from around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as snowmelt and runoff dominate. Peak summer temperatures (June–August) are commonly in the 12–18 °C range (54–64 °F) near the shore on warm, sunny days, though deeper water remains colder. During autumn (September–October) the lake cools again to roughly 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), and in winter surface temperatures approach freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible depending on the year and local conditions. Local weather, wind, and depth create substantial variation from these averages.
Swimming in Fyresvatnet is allowed and practiced, especially in summer when near-shore temperatures are most comfortable; public access and Norway’s outdoor access rights mean many spots are open for recreation. Because the water stays relatively cool and deeper layers remain cold even in summer, swimmers should be conscious of cold-water shock and limited lifeguard presence in remote areas. In winter, swimming is generally unsafe except for experienced ice swimmers with proper safety measures. Water quality is typically good, but conditions can change, so take usual precautions and check local guidance before entering.
