*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Åraksfjorden in Agder County (Norwegian: Åraksfjorden) is a long, narrow lake in the Setesdal valley with seasonal surface temperatures that reflect southern Norway’s temperate climate. In spring the water typically warms from around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt and cool weather predominate. Summer surface temperatures commonly range between about 14–22 °C (57–72 °F) on warm sunny days, though deeper or shaded parts of the fjord remain cooler. In autumn the lake usually cools to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and in winter surface temperatures approach 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) with ice cover possible in cold spells. Local weather, inflows, and depth create variability, so conditions can differ from year to year and from one bay to another.
Swimming in Åraksfjorden is generally permitted and practiced by locals and visitors, reflecting Norway’s tradition of public access to nature and recreational use of inland waters. Many find summer months most comfortable for swimming, while colder-season immersion is only suitable for experienced cold-water swimmers. There are no universal bans, but swimmers should heed local signage, water quality notices and take normal safety precautions because currents, boat traffic, and temperature-related risks can occur.
