*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Flåvatn, a lake in Telemark County, Norway, typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of inland Norwegian lakes. In spring (April–May) the surface water is cold as ice melts and usually ranges from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F). During summer (June–August), on warm, calm days the surface can warm to roughly 12–22 °C (54–72 °F), though cooler conditions and wind can keep it lower. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall back toward 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as cooling and increased runoff set in. In winter the lake commonly approaches freezing, around 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) where ice formation is frequent and open water is limited.
Swimming in and around Flåvatn is generally allowed under Norwegian access rights and local practice, and people do swim there in summer when surface temperatures are milder. However, caution is important because water can remain cold even in summer, there are often no lifeguards, and weather can change quickly. Many swimmers use wetsuits for longer immersion, and shoreline conditions, currents near inlets or outlets, and private property should be checked before entering. Local signage or advice from residents will indicate any specific restrictions or hazards at particular spots.
